The Institute for Instructional Research and Practice (IIRP) and the Institute for At-Risk Infants, Children, Youth, and Their Families (ARI) are two institutes operated within the University of South Florida’s College of Education. Created in the 1980s to pursue compatible missions through efficient and shared operations, the institutes continue to evolve as we address advances in educational strategies, technology, and the needs of our constituents.

The institutes are funded through numerous mechanisms, including grants, contracts, and special legislative appropriations. We work with federal, state, and local agencies as well as nongovernmental and community organizations. Our work touches the lives of learners of all ages, throughout Florida, the nation, and internationally.

We are models of university-affiliated research, development, and service centers. The institutes serve as a unique bridge between academia and the community at large, integrating research, theory, and practice to benefit educators and all the learners they endeavor to reach.
